CAP is a not-for-profit corporation which provides legal services for indigent clients within the appellate court system of the state of California. In the mid 90s, we build CAP's time and billing system. In 2001, our servcies were engaged to develop a web-based time sheet for use by third party attornies working on CAP's caseload.
These third party "panel" attorneys are located throughout the state and their services are engaged by CAP. Historically, they've completed paper-based time sheets which they submit to CAP for data entry and eventual payment from the State.
Using our new system, the panel attorneys will be able to use their web browsers to enter their time sheets (and review/update earlier times sheets) thorugh a secure, web-based interface. This system will interface with CAP's legacy time and billing system (which we built earlier in the 1990s).
The system interfaces with the State's Administrative Office of the Court in San Francisco.

The Xerox Documentation and Software Service publishes a catalog of documentation and software updates for high-end Xerox printer products.
In 1991, we were asked to produce a database application to replace an existing application. The system was to track customers and orders. We built a Paradox, LAN-based system to provide these functions.
In 1997, our services were engaged to build a web-based catalog through which XDSS customers would be able to place order in a secure environment over the web. The site features a lot of ColdFusion and Javascript coding. It is essentially a nifty little e-commerce system.

In a very short time window, Advanta Solutions consultants established business requirements, design, built and installed a web based system that the Department of Public Works uses to accept several types of permits (oversize load and pavement service cut) applications on-line.The second phase of the project was also completed in a very short time frame. It involved enhancing the functionality developed in the first phase. The system includes both intra and extranet components and will eventually replace the County's desktop based permitting application.
The goal in each phase was to reduce the amount of manpower required to process routine, simple permits that have historically taken up much of the department's resources to process.
At the request of the DPW, Advanta Solutions continues to maintain and assist in adding new features and upgrades to the software well into 2008.

The Bakemark site is actually three different sites: one for the parent company and two for the western and eastern divisions of the company. We built and host both sites.
The site features some excellent graphics and some interesting Javascript programming.
A extranet application add to the site in 1999 enables other Bakemark locations to search through and download centralized information. Bakemark employees can also buy promotional items from the company store.
The site also features a content management system which enables administrative users from the company to update online recipes, newsletters and other parts of the site.

This is a very complex application. There are portions that run over the Internet and portions that run only at the plasma donation centers. There's also an interface with a third party promotions company, MyPoints.com. The system was completed and rolled out at plasma donations centers in late 2000. We continue to support and enhance the system.

We began working on various applications on the Hyland Immuno intranet in 1998. In order to protect our client's confidential information, we cannot describe the applications in detail but we can tell you that they were all built with ColdFusion and use Oracle databases.
The applications range from moderately complex to extremely complex. Some also involve the use of Crystal Reports web server to provide graphing capabilities.
We have provided services in all aspects of the system development life cycle, from analysis and design through programming, testing, conversion, implementation and support.

Financial Management Advisors (FMA) is an investment company that actively creates and manages investment programs for corporations, pension funds, endowments, foundations, families and high networth individuals.
This site represents another joint effort with r/d design. FMA's site is hosted on one of our servers. It demonstrates the effective use of simple graphics, frames and color.
In 1999, we added a content management system to the site which enables FMA's site administrator to create, modify and publish much of the site herself.
Technologies: Adobe ColdFusion - Microsoft SQL Server - JavaScript
We developed the 'singles' search engine that they've used on their website back in 1999.
In 2000, we enabled the e-commerce portion of their website so that they can accept on-line donations.
In 2001, Advanta Solutions was engaged to design, develop and support a content managment system for much of their website. This system enables all the organizations that comprise JFLA to provide and update their own descriptive information and to post a calendar of events sponsored by their organization. There are administrative portions of this application as well that are used by JFLA site administrators.

We must respect our client's confidentiality so, unfortunately, we cannot go into detail describing the business functions of the application we worked on.
Here's what we can discuss. The application was built using ColdFusion 4.0.1. It runs in a clustered environment with an Oracle back end. It involves some very complex interfaces with a legacy system and some very advance ColdFusion programming.

This site was developed in less than 10 days. It is a free (advertising based) service that enables musicians to find other musicians with similar interests.
Visitors can create profiles which are entered into a database. The profiles can include information about their musical tastes, goals and the instruments they play. Visitors can also enter want ads (e.g., "I'm looking for a keyboard player to do some studio work").
An advanced--but easy to use--query interface enables other visitors to locate musicians that meet their requirements.
In early 2000, Advanta Solutions sold it to Tonos, a start-up venture fronted by music industry vetrans Carole Bayer Sager, David Foster and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. Advanta Solutions hosted the site through September, 2000 and continues to assist Tonos with the service.
Tonos shut down business operations in 2004. Unfortunately our software is no longer available. However, in accordance with our contractual obligations, we decided to re-open a musician's referral service in 2004. We introduced www.MusicianMatcher.com in October.

The site originally included numerous multi-media Java applets, dynamically produced pages, on-line databases, frames/no frames (for browsers that can support frames) and many more advanced features. The site was Perrier's first site to include secured on-line ordering. The original Calistoga Water web site was awarded Yahoo's 'Site of the Day' when it opened in January, 1997. The graphics were all developed by our good friends at r/d design. Be sure to check it out!Technologies: Adobe ColdFusion - Java (J2EE) - XML
In early 2000, the Franklin Covey Corporation engaged our services to assist them in implementing a variety of new features on their recently acquired Day Tracker web site (now www.franklinplanner.com).
We worked with a team of of third party vendors, consultants and contractors (including fusionOne) in the role of project manager and developer.
The site provides users with contact management, calendaring, task and note functions. Data items can be managed by individuals or shared among a group.
Our work involved developing the ability to synchronize your entries on franklinplanner.com with your local Palm organizier, Microsoft Outlook and other clients. The technologies involved include:
We also were engaged to develop other aspects of their web site.

The web-based licensing manager employs a SQL Server back end and is hosted in several Xerox facillities aroudn the world. Xerox technicians are able to set up new machines with license and have them automatically distributed to the customer site through e-mail. Licenses can be configured to be renewed automatically.
The data are segregated geographically and combined through a complex replication mechanism to a central server where global reports can be generated.
The system runs on Xerox's world-wide intranet (behind their firewall) so, unfortunately, we can't show it to you. The project took well over a man year to develop and is used in the US, Canada, Central and South America, England, Germany, Italy and many other European countries.

The mailing house purchases lists for customers from several major vendors of lists. The order data are aggregated and made available to the mailing list in XML format nightly.
Advanta Solutions consultants developed a system for parsing the data, populating the client's database with the order and invoice data and developed a number of reports which enable the client to review the resulting information.
Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server - Oracle - DHTML
This application was developed with the goals of being easy to use and extremely flexible. After conducting a series of interviews with key personnel from each division with that A-C, Advanta Solutions consultants developed a design that would simultaneously enable the functional and divisional categorization of thousands of web pages and a variety of documents in different formats.
The system is quite extensible and requires a minimum of administration from technical users.

Advanta Solutions was contracted to develop this system in 2008, using ColdFusion and SQL Server. The department had been facing criticism for the antiquated file-card system through which vendors were selected for large projects and work.Advanta Solutions job was to develop an automated system that followed a clear and transparent set of rules. It had to be deigned to be flexible to insure future growth and changes to certain business rules. The application needed an administrative interface and a public-facing web-based interface through which vendors could log in and see the results of vendor selections for projects.
The system was developed over the course of several months and implemented on the City's web servers, where it has been running without issue for years.

While we initially were contracted to design and develop a new, more dynamic and up-to-date website for this firm, our relationship has evolved. As of early 2012, we had completed many projects with this not-for profit organization and have been hosting several websites for the company.
We developed the organization's early foray into e-commerce and have provided them with better website utilization statistics by building an interface to Google Analytics throughout their site.
Our work with this client has expanded in to further development on three of their web-sites/application, maintenance of their database (which we upgraded to SQL Server) and hosting of their three domains.

The client company is a long-time provider of student-exchange programs, utilized by parents throughout the US and students throughout the world. They manage the process of finding US-based host families and young people who seek cultural exchange experiences in the US.
They operate a variety of programs. Most of the business of managing these programs is begin migrated from LAN-based system to web-based systems.
One of these systems was partially developed but needed additional features to meet with a number of governmental requirements. The vendor was not able to produce all of the required changes in the client's required time-frame. Advanta Solutions was brought in to assist in the process.
We developed many new features and functions for this web-based system. Features include complex applications processing, commission calculations and tracking, securing access to student information, student tracking, other back office administrative functions and features.

Advanta Solutions assisted in the development of a new SQL Server database to track the thousands of au pairs seeking employment in the US through the firm's clients. The system incorporates many features that enable users to update lists of au pairs, all of their governmental data and paper requirements, all of the families, etc.
The system was put into production in 2009 and has been continually updated and enhanced as the business and regulatory environment has evolved over the years.
